My July Birchbox!

So, I am so excited to make this post as it is the first time ever that I’ve received a subscription box and I’ve literally been waiting by the door for it like a sad act. But today while I was at work, I received the text from my mum that it had arrived. I had real trouble looking for which subscription box I was going to sign up for and I’m still not entirely sold but here’s what was inside!

First of all, the packaging was super cute. I love the ombre effect and the fact that the box came looking like a little drawer. I’m not sure if this is normal for Birchbox but I really enjoyed it and thought it was cute. It definitely reminded you of summer.

  1. POP Beauty, Bright(EN?) Up Your Life Eyeshadow Trio in Champagne Mocha, RRP £15.50.

I was excited to see POP in here as I have seen this brand before but I’m always wary of buying eyeshadows that I’ve never tried before. I trust Urban Decay eyeshadows but very few others. But these colours are perfect for the more natural looks most of us are wearing at the moment with it being summer.

I purposefully didn’t edit the picture of the colours because I wanted you guys to see it properly but they’re just beautiful natural colours. (Also I hate those applicators, vom.) Swatches are also below, please ignore my veiny arms.

As you can see, they were quite pigmented but the middle mauve-y colour was definitely my favourite. I did notice, though, and obviously I didn’t apply any primer beneath or anything but the lighter colours faded very quickly.

2. Benefit Chachatint Lip & Cheek Stain, RRP £25.50.

My sister has always liked benefit cosmetics but I’ve never been a huge fan of them for the simple reason that I think they are overpriced for what they offer. But I was excited to see that we had a benefit gift in this box. At checkout, you got to pick which tint you wanted the most and I went with the chachatint which is the more coral-y looking one as I don’t think pink suits me. I didn’t actually realise when I saw it that you could use it for your lips, too, so I tried that instead of my cheeks as I’m always cautious with new products.

My camera really didn’t pick up what it looked like but I really liked the finish on it. It was creamy, but such a pretty colour. The brush you used to apply it was similar to a nail varnish brush which felt a little odd and wasn’t the easiest to apply with but I definitely will be wearing this again. Not sure I would pay over £25 for the ‘full’ size, though.

3. Nailsinc nailkale in Elizabeth Bridge, RRP ???

I didn’t realise that the breakdown of this wasn’t actually in the little booklet you get so I have no idea how much this normally is but it was a very pretty colour. I don’t normally like pink nail varnish so it’s not going to be one that I’ll use – I’m going to give it to my also very pretty Mama – but I was impressed with the coverage of it. I only dipped the brush in once and painted a whole hand’s worth of nails without having to dip again. I also didn’t have to do another coat.

4. Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water, RRP £16.

I wasn’t sure whether this was a makeup cleanser, too, from the bottle but looking at the booklet provided by Birchbox, it was. It is 99% cleansing water with chamomile, neroli and mandarin oils that claim to leave your skin glowing. I personally really liked this, it wiped away the makeup really easily and did leave it feeling much cleaner than the Garnier micellar water that I normally use.

5. Amika Dry Shampoo, RRP £20.

This was by far my least favourite product in this box. I love dry shampoo as I’m lazy and washing my hair is literally the worst part of my week. My favourite is the Aussie one as it’s clear and doesn’t have that horrid white stuff you have to rub in. But this is the worst dry shampoo I have ever used. It burned my scalp the moment I put it on and refused to rub in! I tried for at least five minutes and it still left a horrible grey tinge to my hair. It’s definitely not worth £20! Ridiculous.

6. Anatomicals Softening Eucalyptus Foot Cream, RRP £5.99.

I hate feet. They are literally the worst things ever and I hate foot cream so I am so not trying this out. I offered it to my mum but she’s exactly like me so I’m going to keep it back and maybe use it in a future giveaway. The one thing I can say about it is that it smells amazing. Also the packaging is super cute.

7. Birchbox Eyebrow Brush, RRP £1.99.

Finally, last but not least! I love anything that will help me get on fleek eyebrows so I’m looking forward to using this. I’m not sure about the black fibre brush but I am looking forward to using the comb.

Thank you! 🤗 I think it must be good for other hair types because I really didn’t get on well with it. Loved the rest though!
