Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog. I’ve been back at work for three weeks now and the struggle is real. I really enjoy my job but I don’t enjoy the early mornings and the leaving in the dark and returning home in the dark. That is far from fun. But one thing that it has really challenged is my makeup skills. When you don’t have to be at work early, you have more time to get ready and experiment but here is a quick full face of makeup that you can do in under 10 minutes!
I think this is a really vital part of your makeup if you know that you’re going to be out all day. If you don’t prepare with the right base then your makeup could slide off during the day.
My personal favourite combination is the Nivea moisturiser and the Urban Decay Optical Illusion Primer* (see my review of this primer here.) I just pump them onto the back of my hand and rub them into my skin. While it’s sinking in, I run my beauty blender under the tap for the next step.
My go-to foundation is the L’Oreal True Match foundation* but honestly guys, I’m not kidding about how many comments I get about how pale I look even though that is a shade match for me so to avoid this, I add a pump of the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation* in a shade slightly darker than my skintone. This does give my skin a nice glow but I make sure I blend it down my neck, too. With this combination, I don’t personally feel the need to powder it but if you guys do then go ahead!
I mix up what I do dependent on the time that I have. If I’m working pretty quickly and I’ve got up in time before I have to get the bus then I use my Makeup Revolution Brow Palette and I use the dark wax with a PS Beauty eyebrow brush. I’ve been practising doing my brows for years so this doesn’t take me long at all. But if I don’t have much time or I’m not in the mood, I’ll fill them in with my IT Cosmetics Brow Power Pencil (see my review here.)
My favourite palette at the moment for simple looks like this (and for more dramatic looks, so stay tuned!) is the Sophdoesnails x Makeup Revolution collaboration palette. It is seriously such a gorgeous palette. I just dip into the Cuppa Tea colour and I place that all over my lids. It’s such a pretty colour and doesn’t require much blending. I then take a darker brown colour and run it under my lower lashline. I then apply my favourite mascara which is by Sleek.
This bit is by far my favourite part of any makeup look. I bought the Tanya Burr peachy cheek palette* in the January sales and I’m going to do a proper post on it soon with my full review but I am obsessed with the peach blush. It is so lovely and sits really nicely on the skin. The highlighter is a bit too dark for me so I take the Sophdoesnails x Makeup Revolution highlighter palette and use that instead – I normally use the purple one which I was scared of when I bought it but it is such a beautiful colour. I also take the bronzer from the Tanya Burr palette if I’m feeling like it.
Finally, I see how I’m going with the lips – I usually use quite a basic colour but sometimes, I’ll take a darker one to work with me so that I can touch it up during the day. The one I wore for this particular look is the Sleek Liquid Lipstick in *Birthday Suit because it’s such a pretty nudey pink and works so well with the rest of the colour scheme.
So, there you have it! This officially took me nine minutes and fifty three seconds so it was literally just under ten minutes but this is literally what it takes me every day to do because I do basically the same routine. If I’m going to use different products or a different lipstick or something, I get it ready the night before so that I don’t have to waste time looking for it in the morning.
If there are any other makeup looks you guys would like me to do or any other posts you’d like to see from me, please don’t hesitate to comment!
