Hey guys! Ever since I saw the trailer for Greatest Showman, I’ve been so excited for it but I haven’t actually had the chance to go and see it yet which I’m gutted about. But I thought I would merge my love of films and makeup together and do some makeup looks based on the colour-schemes of the posters/details within the film. For example, my next idea is for Logan which is full of orange-y red colours. The Greatest Showman is full of blues and golds and reds but I love blue so I thought that I would put my new blue lipstick to good use.
So, let’s get into it!
Apply your base as normal. I’m not going to get into it too much because I don’t think it’s vital for this look and there’s no real need for me to explain it every single time. If you want to see my normal base routine then go visit this post here.
Fill in your brows quite thickly. I think the thing to be remembered throughout this look is that you want it to be quite dramatic and bold. The smokey eye itself is inspired by how acrobats etc do their makeup – it’s extra as, which I love, because everyone needs to be able to see it from different points in the arena / tent. So go as bold as you like with your brows. I find this is quite hard to achieve with a powder so opt for a pomade. My go-to is the eyebrow wax/pomade in the Makeup Revolution brow palette which I’ve talked about 100000x on this blog.
I swear I’m not sponsored by Makeup Revolution or Sophdoesnails, I will just never be over these palettes. For the eyelook, I took the shade Cuppa Tea and placed it in my crease as a transition shade. I normally like to place down my transition shade first if I’m doing a smokey look – it’s just the way I work! I then took Petrol which I thought was going to be much more blue than it was so I was a bit disappointed by the way it came out but I placed it all over the lid. Then, in the outer corner, I took Nightmare and blended for the rest of my life. Continue to add Petrol and Nightmare until you’re happy with the blend and the outcome. I then took the gold shade from the highlighter palette and placed it over the middle of my lid. If you lose any of the black then add it back in as you did before. Add mascara and lashes if you want!
I’m also going to bronze it up. I took the Beauty Pie bronzer which is amazing – I’ve reviewed it here. I also then went big with the blush, too. This is the peachy blush from Tanya Burr cosmetics. I then took the purple highlight from Sophie’s highlighter and layered it on pretty thickly.
Then, my fave. The lips! Foul Mouth by Nyx is my favourite blue lipstick ever. It’s a gorgeous dark colour and is so easy to apply. You may need to apply a few coats depending on how pigmented you want it. I then took the same gold shade that I used on my lids and placed it in the very centre and blended it out. This just adds a little more oomph to the rest of the lip and the look. It also makes it extra as so if you’re planning on wearing this out, then feel free to leave out this step.
So, there you have it! I’m really enjoying these more experimental looks and I can’t wait to do some more. Let me know if there are any that you would be interested in me doing in the comments below!
