Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review – does it really last 24 hours? 🤔

Hey guys! So, I was so excited to try another foundation because I have been using the same one – the L’Oreal Infalliable Matte (which I’ve reviewed here) – for a long time. I know that this foundation has been out for a while but I’m always open to review different products and I’ve heard such good things about this one!

My favourite Youtuber (sophdoesnails) has used this a few times and spoken very highly of it but I didn’t let this affect my review. She has very similar skin to me though – oily with dry patches – and I thought that seeing as she had such a good experience with this that I should try it out. I really liked the Infalliable Matte but I’m always open to trying new products – especially as I love talking about them on my blog! I bought mine from Tesco but I’m pretty sure the price is the same everywhere. Superdrug sell it for £9.99 which is the average rate for a foundation. For reference, I bought sand as the shade and it is a perfect colour match.

As I mentioned, I have oily skin and the formula claims to be a soft matte finish. I would say this is definitely so as it’s not so matte that it makes your face looks dry – it really is a ‘your-face-but-better’ sort of look. But weirdly, I found that it worked better without a primer. I think the primer made the formula way too oily or mixed with it wrongly as it lasted way longer without a primer. The finish looked tonnes better without it, too. I’ve used both my beauty blender and my brush for it – but the brush definitely worked better. The beauty blender seemed to just move the product around your face without really blending it in.

I really do like the finish. I think it makes my skin look glowy while not being too matte at the same time. Like I mentioned, it looks like your skin but better as you can still see some of the texture beneath it. It also covers up all of your pores and your imperfections. But as for the 24 hour claim? Yeah, I’ma give that a big fat no. I always put my makeup on for work at about 7am and then by the time I get home at 5pm, it’s oily. It doesn’t look bad by any means but it doesn’t look the same as when I put it on. So, I wouldn’t like to think what it would be like if I slept in it, too. Honestly, I don’t really get why foundations want to be 24 hours, it’s not going to be good for your skin to keep anything on that long anyway.

Overall, I really like this foundation. I think it’s a good mixture and it doesn’t feel too heavy on the face. I think as it starts to grow more oily for me, I start to feel more aware of it. As I type this, I’ve been wearing it for over 12 hours and it looks kind of oily but I can feel the areas where it’s gathering – my chin, my nose and my forehead – and I’m pretty eager to get it off. But I would definitely recommend this foundation and buy it again in the future!

So, there you have it! Do you guys like this foundation? Let me know in the comments below! Also let me know if there are any products you would like me to review in the future as I love doing posts like this.
