Hey guys! So, I am so so excited for this post because it is my first ever Youtube video. I have wanted to start a Youtube channel for so, so long now and I’m finally doing it! The first thing that I wanted to review is one of the newer palette releases by Revolution; their collaboration with Emily Noel who is a Youtuber. I’ve reviewed their latest collaboration with sophdoesnails here.
In this video, I demo the palette and give my thoughts at the end. Once you’ve watched the video then head on back here and I’ll give you a bit more of a detailed review!
I really, really love Revolution. I feel like they went from quite a bog standard brand to really upping the ante and I don’t think it will be long before they’re one of the more popular brands up there alongside L’Oreal and Maybelline etc. I think for the prices, they have some really quality stuff. I love the fact that they’re reaching out to collaborate with influencers while still keeping their stuff at a reasonable price. This palette is super cute – I love the baby pink and the way that it’s laid out. My only gripe with the design is I feel like instead of that random powder called ‘Kindness’, they could have replaced it with some more eyeshadow colours.
I go on about this a lot in my video so I won’t rabbit on too much but I cannot get over how disappointing the colour choice is. And I’m not saying that because I don’t use those natural looking shades – if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have bought this in the first place. But the eyeshadows are just very… samey? The palest colour is exactly the same as the powder, the peachy shade is literally the tiniest bit different for the look. The browns are barely different. The shade ‘Honesty’ was the one I was looking forward to the most but it took so long to get any pigment from it which was such a shame. The black felt really random and out of place, too.
I haven’t actually read or seen any other reviews of this palette so I’m not sure if this is tea that’s already been spilled but I really feel like this palette, specifically the face shades, was only made for one skin tone. I could be talking completely out of turn because actually, I really did like the face shades – they were the best part of the palette. The bronzer/contour was stunning, the highlight blinding and the blush was super cute, too.
FINISHED MAKEUP LOOK
Overall, this palette was ‘take it or leave it’. I really liked the face shades and after working for ages to get the shadows to blend, I did eventually like the look. I feel like I’m being a bit harsh but I was disappointed because I was expecting really great things. But below is the finished makeup look. If you guys didn’t look at the video, I really would appreciate if you did! You get some better shots of the finished look, too.
So, there you have it! My first Youtube video is done and I’m really super proud of it. I hope you guys liked it – as always, please let me know in the comments if there is anything you would like me to review/talk about on either my blog or my channel. I’m going to try and find some sort of schedule to make my blog and my channel correspond but I’m planning – at the moment – to do about one/two videos a week and three blog posts. But I do work full time so we’ll see how that goes! Please subscribe!
