Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog – and if it’s your first time here then welcome to my blog! I’m so happy to have you here. I’ve been wanting to write this post for ages because I noticed the other day that I actually have enough products from Benefit to make a full face of Benefit post! Which is something that I’ve been wanting to do for ages so let’s get into it!
So… let’s get #thetea out of the way. I’ve always pulled a bit of a face about Benefit. It’s not because of anything they’ve done or anything I’ve heard about them, just that I’ve always thought them to be a bit expensive for what they offer. They don’t have a massive range or anything and you are paying for the name for a lot of it. But that is the same of all high-end products so we’ll let them off. The first ever experience I had with a Benefit product was when I used the Cha Cha Tint that was in a Birchbox and I had such a bad time with it – it made me break out so bad so I started to avoid Benefit products as a rule of thumb. But then my sister started to get into their products and she really liked them so I was glad when I had the Hoola Bronzer in lite in another Birchbox. Then, I was hooked.
So, let’s get into the look!
I’ve heard so much about their primers so when we got one in a Birchbox – seriously guys, if you don’t have a subscription to Birchbox, I highly recommend them as a majority of my products are from there – I was super excited to try it. I tried the Pearl Porefessional Primer and I really enjoyed it. It definitely did make a difference to how my makeup looked and made it last longer. The little tub didn’t last for very long so I definitely am interested in trying it again and buying the full size. Because of reviews that I’ve seen and because of my experience with their face products, I didn’t want to try out the foundation. So, I just used my favourite foundation which you can find reviewed here and set it with a loose setting powder.
Then, onto the brows. I’ve found that as a whole, the brow products are what Benefit are best known for because they are so so good. They were what got my sister into the products in the first place. So, when I was approached by one of the brand promoters in Boots to try some of their products, I thought why not. I let her do my brows with the Precisely My Brow Pencil and I absolutely loved the natural effect it gave off at the end. So I ended up buying one myself. It’s very similar to the It Cosmetics Superbrow but it has a thinner nib and I would say that it lasts a lot longer on your brows.
Apply whatever eyeshadow you want. I would be really interested to see if Benefit ever branch out and start releasing their own palettes as I’m sure people would buy them – honestly, I do wonder why they don’t lean towards the more conventional sides of makeup and release more liquid lipsticks or just lipsticks in general and eyeshadow palettes etc. But we’ll get onto that a bit later! My go to palette is the Extra Spice palette by sophdoesnails and Revolution which I’ve reviewed here.
Then, onto the lashes. I’ve actually already reviewed the mascara that I’m going to be talking about but I would like to retract what I said about it and re-review it now. When I first tried it, I was so disappointed. It did nothing for my lashes but make them super clumpy and the product just got everywhere. But I tried it with the Benefit lady in Boots and it made them look amazing – she suggested really rubbing most of the product off before you put it on your lashes to avoid clumping and when I did, it was amazing. I think it is probably my favourite mascara. The only gripe I have is that it does transfer onto underneath your brow bone because of how long it makes your lashes but it’s swings and roundabouts – that shows how long it makes your lashes!
I’ve reviewed the Hoola bronzer before here so you can check it out there if you want to but let’s be real… everyone knows how good this product is. I wouldn’t say it was my favourite bronzer but there’s no denying that it’s such a good product with a really good colour payoff, easy to blend. There’s a reason it’s hyped up.
Finally, we have the Gold Rush blush! There was such a hype over this product when they released it and I am a huge fan of blush so I was excited to see what it was actually like. No offence to the Benefit lady who put it on me but she made it look so bad – I literally looked sunburnt! But I bought it anyway because I could feel how much product she was putting on and I always like a light blush effect anyway. There’s a little bit of shimmer in it which is super cute and the colour is lovely when applied gently. But the main thing I can say about it is the smell – for some people, it may be a con but for me, it was definitely a pro. It’s supposed to smell like vanilla and nectar and it really does. It’s amazing and I want them to bottle it so I can have it as a perfume.
There wasn’t any lip products that I wanted to try – the only ones they really do are lip stains? And they looked so gloopy and gross I wasn’t into it. So, I’m waiting until Benefit release their own proper lipsticks for us to try!
So, there you have it! What’s your favourite Benefit product? Let me know in the comments below! Also let me know if there are any products you would like me to review in the future as I love doing posts like this.
